Meet our team: Chef Karen

Our Head Chef, Karen, has worked at Needwood House for over four years. She started as a carer, then moved to work in the kitchen, where she has been ever since. With qualifications in care and catering, Karen is perfectly suited to her role, ensuring the residents’ nutritional needs are met.

Karen says, “I love the atmosphere at Needwood House; it’s very friendly with a great management team. I find my role very fulfilling, knowing that the food from the kitchen team helps residents feel happy. No two days are the same!”

Led by Karen, the kitchen team cooks various home-cooked meals daily, ensuring they are nutritionally balanced. Food and nutritional intake for each resident is logged, making sure each resident’s needs are met. Our person-centred approach to our care is also applied to the meals and snacks we provide. We create food plans for residents who have diabetes and cater to each resident’s tastes and needs.

Rachel, Manager at Needwood House Care Home, says, “Karen and her team make such a difference to our residents on a daily basis. They genuinely care for all our residents and ensure the food is of the highest quality. The attention to detail and their knowledge about each resident helps support our person-centred approach here at Needwood House.”
