Halloween was a wonderful opportunity for residents and staff at Needwood House to come together and celebrate the season in creative and engaging ways. From themed crafts to outdoor adventures, the team made sure everyone could take part in activities that were not only fun but also beneficial for wellbeing and social connection.
In the lead-up to Halloween, the home was transformed with handmade decorations created by residents during a series of arts and crafts sessions. Brightly coloured pumpkins, garlands and spooky decorations brought a cheerful touch to every corner of the home, encouraging conversation and sparking memories of past celebrations. These creative sessions provided residents with a chance to express themselves, work together and take pride in seeing their creations displayed throughout the home.
Adding an extra touch of excitement to the festivities, some residents enjoyed a special day out pumpkin picking. Wrapped up warm for the autumn weather, they explored the field, selected their own pumpkins and shared plenty of laughter along the way. Trips like this are a wonderful way to combine gentle exercise, fresh air and sensory experiences, helping residents stay active and connected to the world around them.
Back at the home, the pumpkins were put to good use as part of the Halloween preparations – carved, painted and proudly displayed for all to enjoy. The celebrations continued with themed treats, music and opportunities for everyone to join in, no matter their ability or interests.
Events like Halloween play an important role at Needwood House, providing variety, stimulation and joy throughout the year. The team takes great care to tailor each celebration so that every resident can participate in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful to them.
